To cut a pencil skirt is a simple procedure. If you are into sewing your own dresses, DIYs to save some extra bucks. You can use this pattern to make a skirt with a zip, a band, buttons,loops etc.
What you will need
Any fabric of your choice

Measurement you need

Place the fabric right sides up and fold to mark. Before you mark you need to calculate the figures you need divide the waist and hips by 4 and add 1-2 inches allowance, for the length add 1-2 inches sewing allowance. From the waist to hips is 7-8 Inches depending on the height of the person you measured. Measure and cut.
To get the back place the front on the folded fabric add 2 inches for zip allowance and cut
To sew.
Iron the 2 inches set aside for zip allowance, sew it together right side facing, leaving 7-8 inches at the top for the zip, sew the zip( if you don't know how to, there are a ton of video tutorial)
Join the two sides with the amount of allowance you added, loose out 6inches from the bottom for slip, sew the raw edge In by an inch, fold the top of the skirt from where the zipper hook starts and sew round. And you are done.
